Welcome letter from the President

Hi Everyone,

First of all I would like to congratulate you on making it to one of the top 10 Universities. The newly instated Law society exec this year really wants to do all we can to make sure this year is as fun and informative as it can possibly be. Please have a browse of this website to learn more. There is a host of amazing ideas we want to carry out this year as well as maintaining the events and programs that are currently in place. Feel free to ask anyone in the exec questions about anything at all! Or if you come across any 2nd or 3rd years that are procrastinating, (the number one activity for students) I am sure they will be happy to help.

This year we want all members to feel like they are really part of the society and gain the most out of the experience as possible. To help with this we will be publishing a regular newsletter about what’s going on in the Law society which will be featured on here. We are also implementing a feedback box which will be in the Law school. Any questions, ideas, comments you have will be greatly appreciated. The rapid rise of Lancaster Law School in terms of academic prowess is something we want to emulate within the society. In order to achieve this we will be working closely with the Law department as well as other universities and a number of professionals. I strongly believe we can offer some tough competition to the Law Societies in other Law schools, which will really give our members an edge.

I know the rest of the exec are currently setting up some brilliant and varied events to cater for all interests. Whether you are interested in mooting, in which you will improve your public speaking skills and legal knowledge, pro bono which will expand your legal awareness or just want to have a good party; there will be a multitude of opportunities to get involved in. These newly expanded areas will be updated throughout the year.

Come and visit us at the Law fair and say hi. I hope you will take the opportunity to join the Law society and experience all we have to offer. This will maximise your chances to meet other like minded individuals, relax and greatly increase your employability in a market where this is a necessary requirement.
